Steel Valley Beacon Arts

Steel Valley Beacon Arts is an amateur theatre company offering professional support to actors and singers. We have members as young as 4 in our under 11’s group, nearly 40 teenager actors, singers and dancers, and a large group of adult actors up to nearly 80 years old. High quality training and support is provided by Artistic Director, Mandy Aitken and Musical Director, Daniel Timmins with support from a fantastic and hard-working production team. Over 20 years we have performed 25 shows, everything from Shakespeare to Sondheim.

We welcome anyone who is interested in performing with or without experience. We make a minimal charge of £3 per session and have a small annual membership fee. Unlike the large performing arts franchises we want to offer professional training affordably. Our local community focus and involvement is an essential part of our work and our aims are to

• Help people develop their theatre and life skills by working together and building individual & group confidence & self-esteem in a safe and inclusive environment.

• Produce high quality drama and music theatre productions for our audience.
All areas of the company are currently flourishing with an extremely talented and committed group of actors, an excellent professional creative team and a hardworking group of volunteers.
The company has ambitious and exciting plans for the future. Our ambition is to develop an independent performing arts academy providing coaching, performance opportunities, teaching, vocational qualifications and career prospects. To help us achieve these plans and to help in our quest for a permanent performance and rehearsal venue we are currently restructuring the company and will shortly be seeking charitable status.
